Race 1 started at 10am - bleary eyed crew, just in from last nights session at Docksiders bar, hauled up jibs and away we went. After two laps - Trevor finished behind Todd, with Tony taking his second bullet. A mixed bag following really messed up the results for the mid-fleet boats - all to play for in the last race.
The last race had Tony doing turns on the start line and Erin bailing early right. The bulk of the fleet charged left, then the fleet split into the sides, with a few brave souls trying the middle. Left paid more than right, with boats far right getting pinwheeled mercilessly.
Down to the finish after 2 laps, the fighting Canadians from Nova Scotia scored their third win of the week, followed by an excellent recovery from Tony and then Trevor having a consistently good day.
Tony Parker takes the Gripper Trophy for a fine win, followed by locals Todd Olsen (2nd) and a rapidly climbing Trevor (3rd).
All 12 boats collected the customary Hagen-Daz from the crash boat on the way in much to the puzzlement of the newcomers to Race Week). Prize-giving, dinner and dancing to follow tonight.
Thanks to the committee for 10 months of work; the owners for loaning their boats; and the visitors for braving the dock party, mopeds, and wild conditions. A great week!!
